A small, calm game about catching falling candy โ made for the moments when you just want your mind to slow down.
Candy Mass is a simple arcade game. Candy drifts down from the top of the screen, swaying gently from side to side, and you move a basket along the bottom to catch it. Fill the progress bar and the round is over. The next one starts.
That is the whole idea. There is no tutorial to sit through, no energy system, no timer counting down while you panic, and no way to "lose" in a way that ruins your day. You catch candy. You watch your score climb. You stop when you feel like stopping.
We built it because most mobile games ask a lot from you. They want daily logins, they want your attention for twenty-minute sessions, and they punish you for stepping away. Candy Mass asks for a minute, and gives it back calmer than it found you.
The mobile games market is full of competition: leaderboards that reset, timers that expire, streaks that break. Those mechanics work โ they are genuinely good at pulling people back. But they also leave a lot of players feeling worse after playing than before.
We wanted to try the opposite. Candy Mass keeps a leaderboard if you want it, and missions if you like goals, but every system in the game is optional. You can play as a guest, never sign in, never touch a mission, and still get the full experience.
The short rounds are deliberate, too. Most rounds finish in under a minute. That makes the game easy to pick up in a queue, on a bus, or in the two minutes before you fall asleep โ the moments when a long session would be the wrong thing entirely.
As you play, the world around you changes. Each theme has its own palette, its own falling objects, and its own mood.
Where it starts. Soft pinks and purples, glossy fruit and sweets, and a soundtrack that stays out of your way.
Calm blues and slow motion. Fish, shells, jellyfish and starfish drifting past instead of candy.
Warm browns and a cosy finish. Pastries, truffles, coffee cups and beans for the later rounds.
Switching worlds is not just a colour change. The falling objects are entirely different artwork, which keeps the game feeling fresh even after hundreds of rounds.
Candy Mass has a long, gentle difficulty curve rather than a hard wall. Falling speed starts slow and increases gradually. Bombs become a little more common over time. The basket shrinks slightly at very high rounds.
Nothing jumps. We test the curve so that no single round is dramatically harder than the one before it โ the game should feel like a slow ramp, not a staircase.
Bonus rounds appear every few rounds. These ask you to catch one specific type of candy while avoiding everything else, which changes the rhythm without raising the stress. A small number of shield and multiplier pickups help you along the way.
There are fifteen baskets to unlock. You earn coins by playing, and a free daily spin gives you a little more. Baskets can be unlocked with coins or simply by reaching certain rounds โ whichever comes first.
Baskets are cosmetic. They do not change how the game plays, and no basket makes you better at catching. That was important to us: we did not want a progression system that quietly punishes players who do not spend.
Candy Mass is made by Mass Interactive Games, a small independent studio. It is built with plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript โ no game engine, no framework, just a canvas and a lot of careful tuning. The whole game is a few hundred kilobytes of code.
